On Friday, April 6, comedians Jessimae Peluso, Amy Carlson, and Anna Phillips will perform together in The C Word, a show with a unique twist on stand-up comedy, at Jazz Central’s theater in downtown Syracuse, N.Y.
The C Word features three funny women who pull no punches as they deliver clever, fearless and provocative humor from three diverse perspectives. From New Rochelle, N.Y., Amy Carlson (SiriusXM Radio, Real Time with Bill Maher, Paid or Pain) is known for poking fun at her own personal failures and commenting on the idiosyncrasies of life. Carlson brings her acid tongue and sardonic wit to the Jazz Central stage for the first time. Syracuse’s own Jessimae Peluso (NBC-TV, The Tyra Banks Show, The Huffington Post) returns from New York City with her high-energy, raw, straight-forward comedy. Peluso, a graduate of Henniger High School, was a finalist at the Boston Comedy Festival, the Women In Comedy Festival (WICF), New York City’s ‘Funniest Comedian Contest,’ was featured on the 5 Funny Females Tour, and headlines the “Hometown Humour Tour” every year at Syracuse’s Palace Theatre. A Baltimore native, Anna Phillips is a local up-and-coming comic who appears regularly around Syracuse and Upstate New York, including successful charity performances for The Wounded Warrior Project and Alzheimer’s Association. Phillips, the producer of The C Word, says she hopes to continue to bring talented, professional comedians to Syracuse, including those who usually perform in bigger cities, for an affordable and intimate night of entertainment. Although she says talent, not gender, is the most important factor in booking a show, this will be Phillips’ first time producing an all-female lineup. The C Word has a little bit of everything for everyone, from slam poetry to stand-up and storytelling, and guarantees a lot of laughter. This is not your average stand-up comedy show. As we all know that the co-founder and genius at the Apple Inc has passed away this week. Steve Jobs has been battling and fighting pancreatic cancer while giving the world innovative ideas, products and helping the world while furthering his Apple Empire. As a graphic designer and working with video artists, illustrators, 3d designers, fashion designers, photographers and more, using Apple products have always set the standard in the creative industry. I myself (Hakim Griffin) have multiple apple products ranging from multiple iphones, 4 Power Mac Computers, iPods and more. Apple has set the standard and we tip our hat and have a moment of silence for Steve Jobs and our thoughts go out to his family, friends, company workers and partners.

Hakim Griffin and Griffin Productions come together with the South West Community Center and the Syracuse Model Neighborhood Facility for more campaigns and design projects for 2011-2012. Mr. Griffin has always been an advocate for the improvement of neighborhoods and communities since 2000 by engaging in many organizations and campaigns throughout New York State. Already previously creating material for campaigns in Central New York with Andray Blatche (NBA athlete from Washington Wizards), Jolann Dunbarr (NFL World Champion from New Orleans Saints), Cuse Connection (Annual Community Event) Pace 1 Way Photography (Founder Kenyata Pace) and more. Hakim Griffin has stated, “It is our duty to bring up all campaigns and programs from children all the way to adults for communities all around the area including inner city and outskirts regions. Capitalizing on the importance of success, opportunity and positive development is key for economic, social, physical health and mental well being cannot be stressed more in our youth.
